Objectives of the Art Festival

  1. Encourage art education and promote artistic creativity and expression.
  2. Provide an opportunity to recognize and exhibit outstanding student artwork.
  3. Encourage students to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ through the use of artistic talent and personal expression in the art medium of their choice.

**We will be sending the top 36 projects [Grades 3-12] to compete in the ACSI Super Activity Day Art Festival [Grades 1-12 may participate at the CCS Fine Arts Fair].

How to get started:

Step 1:             Choose an Art Category [SEE HANDBOOK]. Also choose the Media[SEE HANDBOOK] which the student decides to use to create his/her art piece.  Media options are listed next to each Art Category. [This information will be sent home with each student in their Wednesday Folder as the Event approaches!]

Step 2:             Feel free to search the library or internet for projects ideas.

Step 3:             Read through the information flyer and begin the project as soon as possible.  Projects Due Dates will be announced.  Late projects will not be accepted after the Final Due Date has been posted for any reason.  Projects are to be completed at home.

Step 4:             CCS will host an In-School Art Festival in the Gymnasium in early Spring.  Projects will be judged in the Gymnasium.  We are looking for volunteer judges!Contact Nicole Harper if you would like to volunteer as an Art Judge. [ nharper@clintonchristian.org ]

Step 5:             April 24, 2009 is the ACSI Art Festival.  The top 36 projects [Grades 3 - 12 only] must be preserved and either delivered directly to Riverdale Baptist School in April [best option-more information to come home regarding delivery time and date] or the project can brought back to school and will be delivered to the competition. [Students are responsible for their projects.  If the project is large than it would be best if a parent could deliver the project directly to the competition, as well as to take home the project home after the competition]

Note:                CCS will be awarding 1st – 6th Prize for our In-School Art Fair. All projects that move forward to the ACSI Competition will receive an award.  ACSI will determine its own award system.  All students must complete the color coded ACSI ART FESTIVAL LABEL. [PRINT FROM HANDBOOK]

Step 6:             Complete the Art Festival Judging Sheet. [Complete the top portion only: Student name, Grade, Category, Media, and Title]  Each project must be submitted with 2 Judging Sheets and the appropriate Label.  Any project without the proper Judging Sheets will be disqualified. [PRINT FROM HANDBOOK]

Judging: Four Judging Criteria from 10 points [high] to 0 points [low]; 1] Elements and principals of Design, 2] Skill of construction, 3] Presentation, and 4] Creativity and Originality.

Rating: Superior Projects 35 – 40 points, Excellent Projects 30 – 34 points, and Good Projects 20 – 29 points.
